Queer & Trans Yoga Retreat

Sept 27 - 30, 2018

The Watershed Center, 44 Kaye Road, Millerton, NY 12546

with Jacoby Ballard & Emily J. Kramer

Truth, Essence, Authenticity

Come be in practice and community, rest and rejuvenate, reflect and contemplate, stretch and strengthen at this queer community yoga retreat!

Our authenticity at the level of embodiment and articulation helps us be seen in this world - this can be galvanizing and empowering, both individually and within community. It can also present limitations. While slogans like "labels are for cans" are largely dismissive and universalizing, where and when and why might we transcend externalities and lay down the labels? Where do we encounter attachment? Where are these expressions vital? Where might they minimize ourselves and each other? What’s it like to claim our essence in a world that essentializes identity along binaries (gender, race, sexuality, morality, wealth, dis/ability)?  How has the notion of “authenticity” imposed from the outside in caused harm?

How do our outward expressions affect our sense of belonging? how do these impact the lens thru which we see ourselves, each other?

This retreat features asana practice in the morning and evening, dharma talks and discussion, reflection, free time to hike, swim, and explore, partner yoga, delicious locally-sourced meals and snacks, and mornings of noble silence. Come to this retreat to build queer community of the heart, creating space for deep work and joyous play. Suitable for all levels.
